I Miss You - A Poem
I can't eat, I can't sleep
I can't even blink
Without picturing you
Wrapped up in my arms
With all your peace and calm
My sweet, beautiful, I miss you
Your brown eyes are glowing
There's a halo hanging over you
In my mind all day
And you could take or leave me
Leave me here bleeding
Pleading my heart to yours
I'm only 23 years old
With an old man's soul
And a mind that don't like to rest
But around you I ain't alone
Like my heart has found its home
Anyways girl, I digress
The devil's been getting the best of me
I'm my own worst enemy
Yeah, life's been heavy to hold
Sometimes I get lost up in my fantasies
And miss what's right in front of me
Just like the winter of '25
But maybe it was all meant to be
And we're exactly where we need to be
Though what the future holds, who can tell?
I pray we both release control
And let the river flow
Carry us where it may
I miss you deep within my soul
It's only you I want to hold
Oh my sweet, beautiful
How I miss you babe.
